Dean on RAGBRAI
A man who spends time in Iowa is a man after my own heart. Have you heard that Dr. Dean is brave enough to spend a day participating in one of Iowa's best traditions? He grabbed a bike and joined thousands of riders from all over the world to ride in the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). Here's the story from the Des Moines Register. Thanks, Mom, for the heads up.
He also talked about his devotion to equal rights for persons with disabilities. One of the co-sponsors of the original ADA is backing Dr. Dean. Food for thought.
Enjoy the weekend, and GO HAWKS!

Another Libertarian Confession
Those of you who know me well know that I am a troubled Libertarian, and you're probably confused about why I decided to support Dean for President. He is, afterall, a Democrat. I've been drafting a response, but then I found a much better one written by another Libertarian for Dean. You can find it at his blog, dated Wednesday, May 21. There just isn't room for a Libertarian leader in our system, so I've chosen to back the next best thing, Howard Dean! Check out the other blog for details about how Howard Dean's stands on healthcare, security and personal freedoms are aligned more closely with libertarian philosophy than any of the other candidates.
Cheers,
Libby the Libertarian

Hey Gang,
Art fair was a big success! Thanks to everyone who came by. Right now, I have the booth in a million pieces at my house waiting till September and Festifall. Here is a link to an article on Slate (MSN) about Howard Dean and his agenda for presidency.
Later all,
Jeff

Another funny Doonesbury today, especially to other Iowans and me - Doonesbury @ Slate. As an Iowan, it often seems like I am a foreigner any time I leave my home state.
Dean is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa today, meetin' and greetin' with other Iowans. I know at least 2 people heading out to see him, so hopefully I can get updates from them.
I have heard from a number of Iowans that they liked our Meetup letters. One friend was so excited she forwarded her letter on. Sounds like people miss hand-written mail even more than I thought. Rest assured that the Dean conversation is taking over coffee shops and water coolers all over Iowa. Come on, Hawkeyes, get in gear and join up!

Hey Crew,
Check out our new website www.umfordean.org. Also, check out the Art Fair booth that Brit put together. It looks great! If you have not been to the Art Fair yet, what are you waiting for? Get down there. It is one of the biggest Art Fair's in the nation and probably the biggest event in Ann Arbor (next to Football Saturday's). Well, have a good one, and Libby and I will keep you updated of what is going on,
Jeff

Yo, Dean's List!
Art Fair starts tomorrow, as I'm sure you in Ann Arbor know, and with Art Fair comes another fantastic chance to promote Howard Dean, M.D. for President! Ann Arbor Dean supporters have a booth at the fair so stop by to learn more about our candidate.
Have you seen Doonesbury this week? So far it's about Dean supporters just like us. Here's today's Thanks to my brother for the Doonesbury tip.
From Dean's own blog posting - "One of the amazing things about this campaign is how the Internet has allowed people to meet and work together in common cause. Only by taking an active part in our democracy will we be able to restore a government of, by and for the people." That's why I'm with him. How about you?
